From the RTX 4090 Stock vs Overclocked test, we tried to understand how much extra fps we can get when we overclock a GPU.
Every GPU now in these days comes with a unique feature, overclocking. Overclocking is a feature that lets a GPU cross its standard limit and pushes the GPU to its highest level of performance. When any system user overclocks their GPU, it reaches its top-tier level for delivering performance.
But does overclock of any GPU matter? Can you get more FPS than in normal mode? To clarify this, we did a GPU Overclocking Test Performance Benchmark. With our stock Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU, we first ran a test on a few games, then we overclocked it and checked out the performance of the RTX 4090.
So without further delay, let’s check out RTX 4090 stock vs overclocked test details.

RTX GPU Stock vs Overclocked – Final Verdict
The above chart shows that in most games, only a few fps have been increased in boosted mode. A max amount of 10fps extra has been noticed for some particular games. So now the question is whether doing overclock of a GPU is worth it.
When you are overclocking your GPU, it consumes a considerable amount of electricity. Also, your GPU core temperature gets very hot, and the fan rpm speed increases significantly. This makes your electricity bill very high and reduces the durability of your GPU’s lifespan. So from our perspective, overclocking your GPU is a waste. The minimum FPS Difference that an overclocked GPU makes is useless when considering.
