Finally, Nvidia released the RTX 4080 and 4090, claiming them to be two times faster and loaded with new features than the last-gen RTX GPUs but at a higher price.
Finally, after a lot of hype and anticipation, we can bid goodbye to Ampere and say hello to the all-new architecture, Ada Lovelace. Nvidia announced their latest graphics card at GTC (Graphics Technology Conference) and their all-new annual upgrades in AI and Server related Technologies. The all-new architecture Ada Lovelace is named after an English mathematician and writer known for her work on the Analytical Engine, a mechanical General Purpose Computer on Charles Babbage’s proposal back in 1840.
What to expect out of the RTX 4080 and 4090 – An overview
The all-new RTX 4090 from Nvidia will be two times faster in raster-heavy games and four times faster than the last generation of ray tracing games than the RTX 3090Ti. The RTX 4080, on the other hand, will be three times faster than the RTX 3080Ti, which means we are getting colossal performance boosts over the previous generation GPUs.
The all-new RTX 4090 flagship Nvidia Graphics card will be available from the 12th of October with a starting price of $1599. In contrast, the RTX 4080 Graphics card is available from November 2022 onwards with a starting price of around $899. The RTX 4080 will feature two different VRAM variations, 12GB and 16GB.
Nvidia will release the Founders Edition card from their end; all the different board partners will release versions of the Nvidia RTX Graphics cards like Gigabyte, MSI, ASUS, Zotac, PNY, MSI etc. Sadly, EVGA has not partnered with Nvidia anymore, so we will no longer have any more EVGA Graphics Cards. That being said, the current gen RTX 3080, 3070 and 3060 will see a massive price cut in the coming months and during the holiday sales.

The all-new RTX Graphics cards will also be coming with some support in the games. A new update is coming to the original Portal game, enabling all the RTX elements and a new Ray Tracing Overdrive Mode for one of the most loved games, Cyberpunk 2077. Nvidia also showcased their all-new real-time rendering app called the Nvidia Racer RTX.
Although we are still not clear whether the newer chips will be called Ada or Lovelace, it will be known once it starts shipping. These chips have received seven new upgrades from its data centre, Hopper.
The seven new upgrades the Nvidia brings with their Lovelace Series RTX 4000 Graphics card for gaming in 2022-2023.

|3rd Gen Ray Tracing Cores||The all-new third-generation Ray Tracing cores double the rate of the calculations at which the rays interact with the polygons by increasing the floating point speed by 2.8x while rendering an image.|
|4th Generation Tensor Cores||These Tensor cores run the DLSS upscaling software, allowing DLSS to jump from one pixel to a better frame-based algorithm incorporated in DLSS 3. Nvidia states that 35 new games and apps will support the unique DLSS 3 Technology from October onwards.|
|Updated Streaming Multiprocessors||This microprocessor delivers up to 2 times the output compared to Ampere Streaming Multiprocessors.|
|Shader Execution Reorder||These optimize the ray tracing data for rasterizing, increasing the shader performance by two times and framerates by 25%.|
|Optical Flow Accelerator||These use the pixel motion data to deliver new frames, and Nvidia says that these will improve the CPU performance in the most intensive sim games like the Microsoft Simulator, for example.|
|Dual AV1 Encoders||These encoders will improve the video processing quality for the streamers who use the latest version of OBS with Discord support coming this fall.|
Apart from these, there are two new software algorithm introductions from Nvidia. These are said to improve performance across the board.
|Displaced Micro Meshes||New meshes of small triangles that the latest Ray Traced cores can process without having to store or preprocess before rendering it, thus increasing the overall performance by 10 times while needing 20 times less video memory in most cases.|
|Opacity Micro-Maps||This help creates masks in different world objects so that it doesn’t need to recreate again.|
