Razer 14 AMD 2021: Display

The Razer Blade 14 we are testing out today features a 2K display, i.e., 2560×1440 IPS Panel, with a refresh rate of around 165Hz. For a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 5900HX and an RTX 3070, a 165Hz display is a must, and Razer made an excellent decision to scrap out the 144hz display for the higher-end models. The 2K resolution and a smaller display make the visuals crunchier, and the colors are really vibrant, and it feels like popping out of the display. The high refresh rate makes it extremely good. For gaming, especially for mainstream esports titles. However, we are yet to see if Razer releases 240Hz or 360Hz refresh rate variants for the flagships.

The display quality is excellent on the Razer Blade Stealth 14 with a brightness of around 343 nits, and it is perfect, as you can use it both indoors and outdoors as well. The display has an antiglare finish so that you can use the laptop under direct lighting conditions as well. Razer opted out of the 16:10 aspect ratio this time for their laptops and decided to stick with the 16:9 only. Here are the two major metrics of the display offered on this specific Razer 14 AMD 2021 Gaming Laptop.

  • sRGB Color Gamut – 99.6%
  • Delta E Color Compression – 3.02
  • Adobe RGB – 84.2%
  • DCI-P3 – 92.4%

For both gaming and non-gaming scenarios, this keyboard proves to be the best amongst all.

The trackpad is also very sturdy and feels good while using it. It is very responsive and fast. It is a bit on the bigger side which is a good advantage, and it responds really well to all the gestures like pinch to zoom, two-finger drag, etc. Both the left and the right click buttons are present beneath the touchpad.

Razer 14 AMD 2021: Battery, Webcam and Speakers

The Razer Blade 14 features a 61.6W/hr battery. For gaming, it won’t run for even an hour straight. But taking it to an office work scenario, the Razer lasts for around 7 hours. During a video benchmark, the Razer Blade 14 lasted more than 12 hours. This means you can easily take this laptop out to work with you and use it for the whole day. Browsing, doing office work, etc., would give you enough juice to last throughout your day if you don’t push the hardware so much.

The Razer Blade 14 features a 720p display with IR Companion so that you can use the Windows Hello Face Recognition feature to log in to your desktop. But the webcam is quite grainy, and it looks dark even in the brightest of settings. I suggest getting a new external USB webcam from brands like Logitech or Razer to get the most out of your Zoom Calls or Game Streams.

The speakers are good, and it has a surprising amount of bass to it. The punchiness of the speakers can be felt; although I would say that the higher ends of the speakers are fine, the mid ends need a little more adjustments as it sounds a little muddy. Pairing with a headset is recommended to enjoy the High-quality audio experience, but the speakers are well worth it if you listen casually.
