HP Victus 16 Gaming Laptops also comes shipped with Intel Core i5 11th Gen and Core i7 11th Gen H Series processors. But in this review, we will take a look at the AMD variant of the Victus 16.

Pricing and Availability

The new HP Victus 16 Laptop will start at $799 for the AMD Models and $849 for the Intel versions. However, it is to note that the budget-friendly HP Pavillion Gaming laptops aren’t going away soon as HP still plans to continue with the product lineup. The HP Victus Gaming laptops are already available now in the market, and you can pick up one for yourself today.

Design and Aesthetics

HP introduced a new design for their Victus Gaming laptops. This mold ID Design separates the look from their other Gaming laptops in their product lineup in terms of design and aesthetics. The new shiny V-shaped logo on the top of the lid looks perfect and subtle and goes well with the design. The hinge and the other areas of the laptop have the Victus branding on them, but there is no sign of HP on the Laptop, and without being told, you won’t make out that this laptop is from HP.

HP achieved a 16.1-inch display in a 15.6-inch body because they used ultra-thin bezels, which gave the screen a higher screen-to-body ratio. As more and more time progresses, all other gaming manufacturers are incorporating 16-inch displays on their laptops.

The laptop deck is flat and boxy with squared keys. The device feels tough but comes with a simple appearance. That is why this laptop is best suited for young gamers and content creators. The HP Victus 16 Laptop comes in both white and black color variants.

HP Victus 16 Laptop Display

The HP Victus 16 Laptop sports a 16.1-inch display in a 15.6-inch body. The ultra-thin bezels on the display sides made it possible for HP to enter into this new 16-inch display trend. This display gives a very premium look to the laptop, and you will enjoy great visuals while browsing, gaming, or even reading documents. The laptop also features a three-sided ultra-thin bezel design. HP also included a 720P webcam, making it easier to stream games or even attend online classes and meetings. The Victus 16 by HP also features a 2K Display resolution with a refresh rate of 144Hz. Here are some of the test results of the display.

  • sRGB – 100%
  • NTSC – 72%
  • Adobe RGB – 78%
  • P3 – 79%
  • Maximum Delta E Compression is 3.16 while the Minimum Delta E Compression is 0.56.

Keyboard and Trackpad

Keyboard

The laptop features a full-sized keyboard with a numeric keypad. The overall feel of the keyboard is good with a good amount of travel which will complement gaming. During typing, there is little to no sound for the keyboard. Although I would have liked it more if the keys were made a little bit harder than soft. But that is fine considering the price these laptops are selling at. The keyboard is backlit, and there is no RGB backlighting on the keyboard.

Trackpad

The Trackpad on the HP Victus Laptop is 19% larger than the previous generation laptops. The trackpad is exceptionally smooth and reacts well to the gestures like pinch to zoom, double finger to drag, etc. There are no visible mouse buttons on the top of the trackpad. Both the left and the right click are present under the touchpad.

HP Victus 16 Ports and Connectivity

On the laptop’s right side, you will only find 2 USB ports, but on the left side of the laptop, you will find one Charging port, one RJ45 port, one HDMI 2.1 port, another USB Port, and a USB Type C Port as well. The USB Type C Port also supports Display Port 1.4. Apart from these, you will also find an SD Card slot to transfer pictures from the camera to the laptop and one 3.5mm Headphone/microphone combo port.

On the wireless side of things, Bluetooth 5.1 is provided to facilitate seamless file sharing. The laptop also comes equipped with Intel® Wi-Fi 6™ AX201, which will enable smooth and stable web browsing and online Gaming.

HP Victus Battery and Speakers

The HP Victus Laptop features a 70W/hr battery which is okay for a Gaming laptop of this caliber. The laptop is supposed to run for 4-5 hours at a full charge if you are only into web browsing and surfing with some media playing in the background. However, if you want to game on the laptop, connect the laptop to the charger.

The Speakers on the HP Victus 16 Laptop is powered by a popular Danish brand called the Bang & Olufsen (B & O). These speakers are moderately loud with good clarity while listening to music. However, you might miss out on the punchiness of the bass from these speakers. But that’s completely fine because most of the Gaming or Content Creation laptops have more or less the same amount of sound as the HP Victus 16.

HP Victus 16 Laptop Performance

The HP Victus 16 Laptop is powered by AMD Ryzen 7 5800H 8 Core 16 thread processor. It has a base clock of 3.2Ghz and a maximum boost clock of 4.4Ghz. This processor also blows Intel out of the water in a lot of tests. Also, the new Ryzen 5000 series run cooler and more efficiently because of the 7nm FinFET manufacturing processes. Pairing along with it, we have the all-new RTX 3060 6GB Graphics Card from Nvidia. The new RTX 3000 series GPUs are much faster than the previous Gen RTX Graphic Cards. The 16GB RAM along with 512GB SSD complements the impressive performance of the laptop. With this combination, you can pretty much run any game at medium to high settings with ease!

HP Victus 16 Laptop Cooling

A gaming laptop needs a proper cooler to dissipate away from the heat and to prevent thermal throttling. The cooling on the laptop is the most important feature of the Gaming laptop as each, and every performance is based on how the heat has been controlled and managed in the laptop.

With the Victus 16 Laptop, HP upgraded their cooling solution and designed it so that the air circulation serves as a Two way inside the laptop and a three-way out of the laptop. This means more and more heat is being pushed away from the system with the help of two fans which also got an upgrade from 47 blades to 83 blades now. Hence the fan area also increased. HP also increased their heat pipe length by 18% for maximum heat transfusion. The new Victus 16 increased 14% in the total wind volume with denser fan blades and better air intake, which resulted in maintaining better thermals for the laptop.

The CPU Temperature reaches a whopping 91 degrees while running at a TDP of 45W. In terms of dual testing with AIDA64 and Furmark, the GPU hits 80 degrees, which is okay.

In the game control center, you can control the system core, voltage reduction, network booster, etc. The software also shows all the hardware details of the laptop. HP did a great job by releasing the HP Victus 16 Laptop for young gamers and enthusiasts. They strike a perfect balance by loading up the laptop with balanced specs, which can handle gaming and other tasks as well with ease. While most people would get these kinds of laptops primarily for Gaming, the Victus 16 can handle both audiovisual entertainment and creative content creation. That’s all for now

Nice review but you missed benchmarks and the games for performance metrics are quite outdated. Would be great if you can provide those stats and metrics for recent AAA games

    • Akash Roy

Hey Yash, I will be updating my post very soon with the latest metrics and trends. Thank you for reading out our blog. Have a great day mate!

  2. M G LEE

HI? I BUY THIS MODEL,HP Victus IN KOREA & OVERSEE TO AUSTRALIA,BY AIRLINE PARCEL, I NEED MSDS HP Victus 16, 70Wh battery, please!
Could U HELP ME OR ADVICE, PLEASE!! THANKS!

    • Akash Roy

Hi MG Lee! Definitely! Contact HP Service Australlia. Contact them, they will be able to help you with the battery and warranty. I don’t think you can avail warranty outside Korea. But check with HP thrice if your model qualifies for a Global warranty. If not, you might have to pay in order to get the battery and as well as the service. Mail HP directly by visiting their website and I am sure they will help you out. Hope this helps! Have a great day!

Can you refer which one has better thermals in real life loads HP Victus or Asus TUF or Acer Nitro. Hardware specs is half the story without thermal management.

    • Akash Roy

Yes surely. I would suggest you go with HP Victus. ASUS TUF is both build quality-wise and thermal management is not that great with not many vents for air transmission. And stay away from the Nitro Series Laptops.
