But we find the display panel to be a little wobbly, which might be because of the review unit we received. The screen-to-body ratio of this laptop is almost 84%, and to be honest, HP did a great job of keeping the look of this laptop as minimal and stealthy as possible.
The HP glossy logo is placed right at the centre on the top of the display panel, and because of its glossy finish, it looks great. The thermal management system is placed at the laptop’s bottom, right and front portions. The chassis of this laptop has a smooth black matte finish, with Omen branding right at the lower portion of the display.
Omen Gaming Laptop- Display
HP installed a Gaming Display on this Omen 17 laptop. With an aspect ratio of 16:9, it has a screen size of 17.3 inches. The lower portion of the screen features fat bezels and covers too much area where the left and right side bezels are skinny. We are surprised to see that in this 16:10 Aspect Ratio Market, HP is still sticking with the 16:9 Aspect Ratio display for their Omen Laptops, which can be one of the drawbacks of this Laptop.
To make up for not including the new aspect size display for their 2023 Omen 17 laptop, it has a 240Hz refresh rate for competitive gaming with a 3ms response time. The monitor’s resolution is 2560x1440p, i.e. with 300 nits of brightness and sRGB colour accuracy. Besides, you are also getting the Anti Glare and Low Blue light features on this display to protect your eyes during more extended gaming and working sessions.

The keyboard of this laptop comes with a 50% form factor which means it comes without the number pad. But it has a very clear design with decent spacing between each key. The keyboard has decent travel, which can be great for gaming and typing.

HP Omen 17 comes with a Dual Speaker Bang & Olufsen Audio system. Along with this, you are also getting the DTX X Ulta and HP Audio Boost technology. We did some testing while playing some of the popular metal and rock music to test out the sound, and we haven’t found any noise distortion on this laptop, even though the volume is cranked at a high dB level. Besides, it also delivers excellent sound through the 3.5mm audio jack when you use Wired headphones. You can connect a pair of Wireless Headphones or Gaming Headphones if you wish to, and you won’t have any audio degradation.
Battery
With a 6-cell 83 Wh battery, this laptop can only deliver a backup of up to 5 hours and 30 mins on Standby. Under normal conditions, it runs very well, but when you apply a certain amount of workload on this, the laptop’s battery starts draining fast. If you are gaming, it can barely provide you less than 1hr time if you are not using an external power source.
Webcam
HP’s Omen 17 laptop has a 720p HD Wide Vision Webcam, including Dual Array Digital Mic. The quality of this webcam is very good and provides crystal clear picture quality. We found no dead pixels during our testing, which is excellent for daily video calling, streaming or broadcasting.

For keeping this laptop cool, HP Omen 17 comes with large air ventilation radiators, dual fans, and three large heat pipe systems. On the back and right side of this laptop are three air vents placed for heat exhaustion, whilst the largest one is on the bottom side of the laptop.
