In this article, we have tested out four different RAM sizes to see how much ram is required for gaming in 2022
Along with CPU and GPU, Random Access Memory (RAM) plays an essential part in PC Gaming. The more amount of RAM you have in your system, the less amount of lag and fps drop problems you will face while in gaming mode. The latest Generation RAM helps you to play your modern high graphics games smoothly. Also, if you are a streamer, RAM easily lets you Game and Stream together.
So precisely what amount of RAM do you need in your system according to your demand? To clear this confusion, we experimented with RAMs in our system. We tested out four different memory sizes in our system and ran some games to see what could be the most significant change that can be when you go from 4GB RAM to 16GB DDR4 RAM.
Now without further any delay, let’s check out what amount of RAM is required for gaming in 2022.

How RAM is Required For Gaming in 2022
Before progressing to the main topic, let’s check out the system details we used for our experiment.

Maximum RAM required for Gaming in 2022 – Conclusion
The above chart shows that the lowest variant, 4Gb memory of the same Frequency RAM, delivers the worst performance. 60fps is a nightmare in this category, and it can’t run the Horizon Zero Dawn Game. On the other hand, 8Gb RAM performs well with 100+ fps in every game without any issues. In some games, we can observe a massive jump in the FPS with the 12GB RAM category. Surprisingly the 16Gb RAM performance is almost negligible because it provides the same performance as the 12GB variant.

So after analyzing all the results, we can say that in 2022, you need at least 8Gb of RAM in your system, with a minimum of 2666Mhz frequency. And If you want some more performance in some games, then you can go for the 12GB RAM variant. Remember that if you mismatch RAM speeds, you will be limited to the lower-performing memory in your system. For example, if you already have 8GB 2666Mhz RAM installed and get another 8GB 3200Mhz RAM, then the latter one will run at the lower 2666Mhz speed, or it won’t run at all. And if you want to play your games on ultra settings, go for at least 16GB of RAM.
