The top variant of ROG Strix SCAR 15 G533ZX is priced at approximately $3300 and EUR 3499. The same model which comes with RTX 3070Ti is listed at a max of EUR 2800. Meanwhile, the bottom model G533ZM is priced at $1800. But the costs might vary from one country to another.
Asus ROG Strix SCAR 15 2022 – Design and Build Quality
Asus did some significant design changes on their all-new Asus Strix SCAR 15. The updated design made it more lighter and compact. Asus implanted some strong materials which make this laptop a well-built gadget with proper ports, sturdy hinges, and beautiful Asus Aura Sync RGB.
The laptop is built with a strong plastic that is incredibly smudgy, so you have to keep your eye on it so that it doesn’t get too much dirty. Along with the strong chassis, the cooling material and speakers, and the other things together make its weight to be approximately 5.1 lbs.
ASUS ROG SCAR 15 Review – Display
ASUS Scar 15 features a 16:9 aspect ratio display and comes in two different variants. Here are two types of screen options. Both of them are extremely good for gaming.
- FHD, 300Hz, 3ms response time, 300+ nits brightness, 100% sRGB colors
- QHD, 240Hz, 3ms response time, 300+ nits brightness, 100% DCI-P3 colors
With 300+ nits of brightness, both of the panels are not so bright for extremely bright lighting conditions but good enough for gaming in a normal living room lighting scenario. Also featuring a wide color gamut with a superior level of color accuracy is present here. Adaptive-Sync is present to prevent screen tearing.
We did some tests of the panel with the X-Rite i1 Display Pro sensor and here are the results –

Two good things that we noticed from this testing. The 15-inch SCAR 2022 from Asus is a quite little brighter than the SCAR 17. And we don’t see any backlit bleed around the edges of the screen. Also, these panels don’t use PWM when brightness is low.
ROG SCAR 15- Keyboard and touchpad
Keyboard
With the previous Gen, Asus did some experimental things with the keyboard by squeeing optomechanical switches but it didn’t perform well. So, this time, Asus rolled back into their standard quality of the rubber-dome switches on the keyboard.
SCAR 15 keyboard comes with full-size keys along with extra media function keys and separated smaller arrows keys. It does not come with a dedicated Numpad. The Asus Aura Sync RGB looks good aesthetically.
Touchpad
Asus constructed a large clickpad just like the did in the past. The area is very smooth to operate and accurate. The clicks are a little bit clunky, but the surface area doesn’t rattle like Scar 17.
ROG Strix SCAR 2022 – Ports and connectivity
On the back of the laptop, you will find one Thunderbolt 4 Port, one USB Type C Port, one HDMI port, and an RJ45 Jack. The charging port is also present at the back of the laptop.
On the right side of the laptop, there aren’t USB ports. On the left side of the laptop, you will find two USB Type-A Ports and one Headphone/Microphone, Combo Jack.
For the wireless side of things, the Scar 15 Laptop features Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E for stable internet connectivity and Bluetooth 5.2 for seamless audio playback and file transfers.
Asus 15-inch Gaming Laptop- Audio, Battery and Webcam
Audio
Asus impressed us with its audio quality. This laptop is really good as it is manufactured with 4 good 2W Stereo speakers. With its enriching sound of around 80+ dB, you wouldn’t hear any type of noise distortions. Also, it has squeezed speakers well inside the chassis so the armrest area vibrates barely.
Battery
Both the 15 and 17 inches SCAR Gaming Laptops come with 90Wh battery options. The system automatically switches the 60Hz screen’s refresh frequency rate during startup. If you want maximum efficiency then use the hybrid model.
We did some battery testing. Screen brightness was set at around 120nits and here are the results.
A. Max usage of 6 hrs while doing text editing on G drive, Silent Mode, WiFi On
B. Max usage of 6-7 hrs while watching Youtube on 1080p, Silent Mode, Wifi On
C. Max usage of 6-7 hrs while watching Netflix on 1080p, Silent Mode, Wifi On
D. Max usage of 4-5 hrs while browsing the Internet, Performance Mode, Wifi On
E. Max usage of nearly 1hr while playing Ultra Graphics games, Performance mode, Wifi On

ASUS ROG Scar Gaming Laptop – Performance and Benchmark
We did some tests and ran some of the heavy software loads including some of the newer high Graphics games. We turned on the Turbo profile in the armory crate and the MUX is set on the Hybrid mode.
For the heavy load task handling experiments, we ran the 3DMark 13, PCMark 10, CineBench, x265 HD types of benchmarking software. And for Gaming, we ran Battlefield V, Doom eternal, Far Cry 6, Witcher 3 types of AAA titles.

Asus Rog SCAR 15 2022- Cooling
Asus hasn’t upgraded anything related to its thermal architecture and the thermal module design for its cooling solution. Other than a few noticeable changes, a superior liquid metal compound is used as a Thermal Grease for more effective cooling. Other than that there is nothing very special about this cooling system.
ROG Strix SCAR 15 – Free Softwares
This SCAR 15 laptop comes with a pre-installed Windows 11. Apart from that, you will get some of the ASUS ROG software and Nvidia Gsync software for your own customization. It also comes with a free copy of the Microsoft Office 360 package.

Right now it’s running on a 16x2GB configuration, but if you want you can upgrade it with a 32x2GB configuration by swapping the older ones out.

How does it stack up to make ge76 raider in overall performance? Cuz the scar 15 and 17 the 2022 models really caught my interest but I’ve seen some other details on the MSI gaming laptop for this year and it seems to be like the fastest and most powerful even though they have some of the same components like the 12th gen i9 and an along with the RTX 3070 TI. But it seems like the MSI outperforms the scar in my wrong on this?
MSI GE76 Raider outperforms the scar in every way. Not only in performance, but the build quality, performance optimization, and thermals are far better than any ASUS Gaming models.
And what about price-quality ratio? I saw a ROG Strix SCAR 15 for 3569€ with Processeur Intel Core™ i9-12900H (14 coeurs, 2,5 GHz / Turbo Boost jusqu’à 5 GHz) RAM 64 Go DDR5 – 2 To SSD – Carte graphique NVidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 16 Go GDDR6. Same MSI wouldn’t cost less than 5000€.
What are the chances I can get Win10 to install on here? Think I’d have luck grabbing individual drivers from the manufacturers? I bought it without realizing it was Win11 only. The box is still sealed, and I will return it rather than use Win11, but would really like to find a way to make use of it.
