Design and Aesthetics

Acer combined most of its Research and development in putting such powerful specs in an incredibly small form factor. This is a 14″ Laptop and it’s already running a Ryzen 7 5800U along with a discrete RTX 3050Ti Graphics Card. That speaks volumes of Acer’s progressive attitude when it comes to launching every kind of laptop for every kind of customer.

The Swift X features a slender design with a thickness of 0.7mm. That’s incredibly thin for a laptop with so much of horsepower in it. Weighing around 1.39kgs it is very easy to carry around and will fit perfectly even in your small backpack. This is not a Gaming Laptop. It is a laptop that is made for content creators and professionals at large who wants a sleek edgy design.

Display

The Acer Swift X features a Full HD Display with a resolution of 1920×1080. Since the notebook is mainly geared towards Content Creation, this laptop will also feature a 100%sRGB color-calibrated Display with an 85% Screen body ratio. Yes, we are not getting any 144Hz or 120Hz refresh rate on this because this isn’t geared for Gaming primarily. We will be getting to see a 60Hz IPs Panel. Advantages of having a good quality IPS panels are the color accuracy and color reproduction along with good viewing angles. The Swift X’s display is vibrant with an Anti-glare finish and the extremely thin bezel gives a much better experience while using.

Connectivity and Ports

On the connectivity side of things, we will be getting the new onboard Wi-Fi 6 along with Bluetooth 5.2 functionality.

For the Ports, we will be getting to see 2 USB Type-A Port, 1 USB Type-C Port, 1 HDMI Port, and one Headphone/Microphone Audio Combo Jack. We will not be getting any Thunderbolt ports on this but the Type C Port is very fast for data transferring.

Thermals

Acer came up with a very innovative style of cooling to keep the temperatures down. Ultrabook laptops which are used for content creation purposes like photo and video editing, tend to become extremely hot because the thermal solutions are not equipped well enough to take such a massive amount of load.

So Acer came up with 3 new technologies for their Swift Series of Laptops. The first being their Stereo Ring fan design which is slightly inclined, so it is capable of pulling more air inside the laptop delivering sufficient cooling to the internals. Secondly is their newly design Air-inlet keyboard. This type of keyboard helps in expelling the heat out through the gaps between the keys. This is a very good feature since the keyboard covers the greater part of the laptop and air transfusion will be much more spread out. And thirdly, Acer also introduced multiple cooling modes like the Silent mode, normal mode, and the performance mode depending on your use.

Performance

The Acer Swift X is powered by the latest AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Processors. As per recent news, there will be two variants of the laptop, one with the Ryzen 5 5600U & the Ryzen 7 5800U. The Ryzen 5 5600U will have 6 cores and 12 threads while its big brother Ryzen 7 5800U will feature 8 cores with 16 threads.

Both will have up to 8/16GB RAM depending on the variant that will be available. Both of them will feature the RTX 3050Ti MaxQ 4GB Graphics Card from Nvidia. That means this GPU will be able to use the Resizable bar technology where the CPU can access the full GPU memory for enhancing the performance. Having the RTX 3050Ti will help to render 3D Designs and also a good amount of Gaming.

The fifty-nine 0.3 mm blades and two D6 copper heat pipes do optimize its thermal efficiency hence there are no instances of thermal throttling. This laptop is a boon to users who want a thin but extremely powerful laptop.
This laptop sports a 59W/hr battery with an expected backup of around 17 hours and can easily last a day.

The Acer Swift X is a perfect balance of Raw Power and Portability!

Conclusion

Of course, there are some drawbacks of this system as well. As Acer is also known to keep its price really down from its competitors while offering almost the same level of quality, the Swift X is also not an exception. This laptop doesn’t include the Windows IR Camera for Face Recognition, although the Fingerprint sensor is really good with instant laptop wake-up. Having the DTS Audio with Acer True Harmony and Acer Purified Voice Technology along with Acer AI Noise reduction technology will help to fetch you crystal clear voice with no background noise in meetings.

It’s indeed a perfect laptop for both content creation and a little bit of gaming as well. This laptop is well equipped to handle the recent AAA titles with medium to high resolution at ease with no problems whatsoever. But it would be a perfect companion if you are a content creator or a business person who likes gaming but also on the go!

The Acer Swift X will be available by June and the starting price will be around $900.
