Acer’s new Nitro 5 2022 Gaming Laptop is available globally starting at a price tag of $699.99. It is available with both Online and Offline Retailers. But the price and availability may vary from one region to another.
Acer Nitro 5 – Design and Build Quality
Acer Nitro 5 Laptop features a Shell black plastic build quality. The quality of plastic feels sturdy enough and the product feels sleekier and lightweight with the weight being just around 4.85 pounds as well. Along with the display, it is just 0.94 inches thick. The laptop comes in a red and black color combination.
The laptop body is a fingerprint magnet. Although the laptop is well built so that it can withstand the shocks. The lid is completely made out of plastic and the glossy Acer logo sits right in the middle of the top lid.
There are two distinct angular lines that run from the top to the bottom of the lid. The red accents at the back make the laptop look aesthetically very nice.
Acer Nitro 5 2022 – Display
The Acer Nitro 5 Laptop features a 15.6-inch display and it delivers a fast 144Hz refresh rate. With Full HD 1920×1080 resolution, the panel produces excellent details in photos videos and gaming.
The color contrast quality of the display is really good. Whether it’s a normal video, a still picture, or even gaming, the Acer Nitro 5 promises to deliver a great viewing experience. There is no noticeable color bleed. The viewing angles are not good.
The display has thick bezels as compared to its competitors and we are also not seeing the new 16:10 aspect ratio which is a trend in 2022. The display is good for casual gaming and viewing content. But it won’t be a good option if you want to create content like video editing and photo editing as the display is not color calibrated.
Nitro 5 2022 – Keyboard and Touchpad
Keyboard
The Nitro 5 Laptop features a red-backlit keyboard with soft-type keys. It has dedicated buttons like Home, End, Page up Page down, etc on the top row. Although the Escape and Delete keys are quite small in size. It also comes with a proper wrist wrest area which feels really good when typing.
Some of the users complained that they are having a hard time reading the letters on the keyboard due to the low contrast lighting. The typing experience is very good with a key travel of 1.6mm. The lifespan of keys is approx 16.7 million storks.
You can launch the Nitro Sense Utility by pressing the dedicated button on the keyboard.
Touchpad
The trackpad also looks a little large given how much space is already available on the deck of the laptop. The touchpad features left and right mouse buttons underneath the pad. The single panel touchpad is prone to make more mistakes when pressed incorrectly.
But that’s not an issue because it will only take a few hours of usage to get used to it. The trackpad responds well to all the gestures like pinch to zoom and drag and other windows features.
Acer Nitro Gaming Laptop – Ports and Connectivity
Ports
On the left side, you are getting two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, an Ethernet port, and a universal audio jack. The charging port is present behind the Acer Nitro 5 laptop.
On the right side, you are getting two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports where one of them is Type C and another one is Type-A. Along with this, there is HDMI 2.0 cable also for a Full HD 1080p picture and video experience.
Although it is very surprising to see that Acer skipped the Micro SD card slot for this model.
Connectivity
On the wireless side of things, you get Bluetooth 5.1 for seamless audio playing and File Transfers. Along with that, you get the Wi-Fi 6 for an extraordinary wireless experience. The Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6 keeps the network extremely stable even when sharing the network with others at the same time.
Nitro 5 2022 – Audio, Battery, and Webcam
Audio
The audio of this laptop is taken care of by two 2 Watt speakers which are decent for both Gaming and listening to music. Although it is always recommended to use headphones or Bluetooth speakers.
The laptop features DTS X Ultra Software installed so that you choose different presets for movies, games, music, and even specific game genres. Although I was a bit disappointed with the sound of the speakers.
The sound felt hollow to my ears and as if the sound is echoing within the laptop itself. The sound is more on the trebly side rather than being bass-heavy. Other brands like MSI perform better when it comes to speaker sound quality.
Battery
Acer has made a big change in the battery section. This new Nitro 5 entry-level module comes with an 11hr standby battery. Even with excessive usage, the battery does not gets hot and performs very well. With our PC Labs Battery Run Down Test the laptop lasted for around 9 hours and pushed back the competitors like the Katana and Victus at 4 hours and 7 hours respectively.
Webcam
Acer has managed to put a webcam in this model. In terms of quality, the camera is very cheap The 720p webcam on the Acer Nitro 5 Gaming laptop is good enough for video calling and conference meetings.
We did expect a 1080p webcam but the provided webcam is good enough for conference calls, zoom meetings, etc. Please note that the webcam is not IR so you might not be able to use Windows Face unlock feature with this laptop.
Nitro 5 with RTX 3050Ti – Performance and Benchmark
Acer refreshed last year’s Acer Nitro 5 with the RTX 3050Ti but went with an older 11th Generation 8 Core processor which is really good even in 2022. The former Acer Nitro 5 laptop got pushed into the middle of the latest laptop pack this year and I am sure it won’t disappoint. The laptop features 16GB DDR4 RAM along with 512GB NVMe SSD.
Acer Nitro 5 2022 CPU Performance
The Acer’s 2022 model comes with a Core-i7 11800H CPU. We did some testing with this Intel 11th Gen CPU and here are the outcomes. We were expecting a 12th Gen variant of this laptop but right now they are shipping the 11th Gen ones only with an Eight-Core CPU rather than a Six core one.

Acer 2022 Cheap Laptop – Thermal Performance
Acer has constructed its all-new Nitro 5 2022 model with impressive thermal architecture. Along with the dual cooling fan setup, there are two separate vents on both left and right sides to exhaust the hot air out of the system. At an extreme level, fans are not so noisy and the overall temperature remains around 42 degrees.
