Do you need to upgrade to the latest DDR5 Platform? This article shows you the 16GB DDR5 Vs 32GB DDR4 RAM Gaming Performance Benchmark. The games are tested on 1080p and 2160p resolutions.
DDR5 is already out in the market and only available with the Intel Platforms. Intel’s 12th Generation Alder Lake Processor currently supports DDR4 and DDR5 RAM. Although AMD doesn’t have a DDR5-supported processor right now, they are coming up with their AMD Ryzen 7000 Series Processor, which would be the first batch of processors to support DDR5. To compete with that, Intel will be bringing in the Intel 13th Gen Raptor Lake Processors. Both the new AMD and Intel motherboards will natively support DDR5.
But that doesn’t mean DDR4 will be discontinued. It will still be here as the transition onto DDR5 will be slow because many users have moved to work from home after the Pandemic and purchased DDR4 PCs & Laptops. So transforming the whole user base to DDR5 will be time-consuming but worth it. And especially for Gamers like you, who would want to get the best out of their new DDR5 gaming system.
So this article will show you the 16GB DDR5 vs 32GB DDR4 RAM Gaming Performance benchmark when tested in both 1080p and 4K Resolutions.

Microsoft Flight Simulator | 101 | 112 | Ultra |

32GB DDR4 vs 16GB DDR5 RAM Gaming Performance – 2160p 4K Resolution
With the 4K, 2160p resolution, here, we have achieved the performance results.
Games | Average FPS 32GB DDR4 | Average FPS 16GB DDR5 | Settings |
God of War | 95 | 98 | High |
Cyberpunk 2077 | 68 | 70 | Medium |
Dying Light 2 | 73 | 75 | High |
Forza Horizon 5 | 94 | 92 | Ultra |
Red Dead Redemption 2 | 78 | 79 | High |
GTA 5 | 87 | 85 | Very High |
Microsoft Flight Simulator | 61 | 60 | Ultra |
As we can see from the benchmarks, the 32GB DDR4 RAM performance is almost at par with the 16GB DDR5 RAM. It is so impressive that even with 16GB memory, the DDR5 can beat out the 32GB DDR4 module, although with a very close margin. But with games like Forza Horizon 5 and GTA, the 32GB DDR4 RAM system performs better. But in all the other games, the 16GB DDR5 was enough to crush the 32GB DDR4 RAM at 1080p and even at 4K!
Right now, not many games are optimized for the DDR5 Platform, and maybe for that reason, we see these kinds of numbers. We are sure that these performance numbers will increase with more optimizations from both the software and hardware side of things as the DDR5 Platform becomes a mainstream platform in the market. We will update this article with more performance numbers, so make sure you check back every month.
So this was all about the 16GB DDR5 vs 32GB DDR4 Gaming Benchmark results. If you think we missed out on anything, let us know in the comments down below.

A 30-year-old avid gamer by choice dabbles in all things tech. Whether spending hours in single-player narrative-based games or going through the latest innovation in technology and chip manufacturing, he prefers to stay on top of things. At the other times, you’ll find him tucked away drumming and headbanging to Rock and Roll Classics.
So if your aren’t gaming, I’m assuming everything said here may be irrelevant…
